Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has formally responded to Elon Musk’s allegations that Indian business interests are obstructing Starlink’s commercial launch in India. Musk had criticized RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani, alleging attempts to maintain a monopolistic hold over the telecom sector. Reliance stated that it has never feared competition, emphasizing that its own satellite broadband venture under Jio is also awaiting regulatory approvals from the government. RIL highlighted its growth to over 530 million telecom subscribers since 2016, asserting that foreign and domestic applicants are subject to the same regulatory standards and spectrum policies.
