Retail trade associations, including the All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA) and the All India Consumer Products Distributors Federation (AICPDF), have called off their planned “No UPI Day” protest scheduled for October 2. The decision followed a meeting between a 20-organisation delegation led by BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The trade bodies raised concerns regarding the proposed merchant discount rate (MDR) on UPI transactions, requesting MDR deferment ahead of festive sales, an exemption for merchant-to-merchant transfers, and an increase in the monthly receipt exemption limit from ₹1 Lakh to ₹5 Lakh.
