The Securities and Exchange Board of India has proposed comprehensive changes to SME IPO regulations in a consultation paper open for public feedback until November 4. Under the proposed framework, companies with a post-issue market capitalisation of up to ₹1,000 crore can list on SME platforms, while those valued between ₹1,000 crore and ₹4,000 crore can choose between SME and main boards. Firms above ₹4,000 crore must list on the main board. SEBI also proposed lowering minimum application thresholds and removing mandatory underwriting to manage high retail participation and market growth.
