Shopify Prepares to Launch Shop Pay in India by Q1 2027

E-commerce infrastructure company Shopify is preparing to roll out its accelerated checkout product, Shop Pay, in India by the first quarter of 2027. The Canadian firm is currently in talks with payment orchestration platforms to integrate local payment service providers. Shop Pay enables buyers to store credentials to speed up checkouts, claiming up to 50% higher conversions than standard guest checkouts. The move sets up direct competition with Indian checkout and conversion startups such as GoKwik, Shopflo, Razorpay, and Shiprocket, which serve India's fast-growing direct-to-consumer brand ecosystem.
