Shopify Prepares to Launch Shop Pay in India by Q1 2027

Canadian e-commerce giant Shopify plans to launch its accelerated checkout service, Shop Pay, in India by Q1 2027. The company is currently negotiating with payment orchestration platforms to integrate local payment service providers. Shop Pay will function as an optional checkout acceleration feature alongside Shopify Checkout, storing customer payment and shipping details for faster transactions. By leveraging its vast existing network of Indian direct-to-consumer merchants, Shopify aims to challenge local checkout and payment infrastructure providers including GoKwik, Razorpay, Shopflo, Shiprocket, and Cashfree Payments in the competitive digital commerce ecosystem.
