Japanese investment major SoftBank has sold 8 crore shares, representing a 1.73% stake in Indian e-commerce platform Meesho, for ₹1,650.4 crore through block deals on the NSE. SoftBank’s investment vehicle SVF II Meerkat sold the equity at ₹206.30 apiece, trimming its holding from 8.60% to approximately 6.87%. The shares were picked up by marquee institutional buyers including Franklin Templeton, Societe Generale, Fidelity, Manulife, Motilal Oswal, Goldman Sachs, and HDFC Standard Life Insurance. The move follows SoftBank’s ongoing secondary exits from listed and late-stage Indian tech firms, including its recent ₹2,888 crore share sale in Lenskart.
