Speaking at TechSparks 2026 in Bengaluru, Zoho Co-founder Sridhar Vembu urged India to prioritize core infrastructure and foundational technology ownership over heavy spending on graphics processing units. Vembu argued that while Indian engineers execute 40 to 50 percent of chip design for Nvidia and extensive software development for global giants, financial gains accrue to foreign intellectual property owners. He warned that national prosperity requires domestic technology ownership rather than reliance on outsourced services. Vembu also predicted AI will disrupt traditional programming, stating AI already writes code better than 60 to 70 percent of developers.
