Sridhar Vembu Warns AI Will Outperform 90% of Software Engineers Soon

At TechSparks 2026, Zoho co-founder and Chief Scientist Sridhar Vembu stated that artificial intelligence can already write better code than 60% to 70% of software engineers, predicting this figure will reach 90% within three to six months. Vembu noted that roughly 97% of India’s population remains insulated from this disruption because they consume technology rather than write code. Concurrently, Karnataka IT Minister Priyank Kharge announced that the state government is evaluating responsible AI integration in governance. Vembu also unveiled the Tech30 list featuring thirty Indian startups spanning autonomous drones and electric farm machinery.
