SpaceX's satellite communication service Starlink has tailored its operations to adhere to India's regulatory and national security mandates, according to Starlink Business Operations Vice President Lauren Dreyer at India Mobile Congress 2026. The company confirmed it has built ground infrastructure comprising 20 gateway sites with hundreds of antennas across the country and committed to storing all Indian user data locally within domestic boundaries. While the Indian government has already granted satcom operating licences to three players, Starlink is currently awaiting final spectrum allocation and mandatory security clearances before initiating commercial satellite broadband operations across India.
