Bengaluru-based genomics startup SugarStrings has launched Healthstring, a single cheek swab DNA sequencing test designed to screen for over 7,442 genetic disorders. Founded in 2023 by former Clevergene Biocorp executives Tony Jose and Rajasekhara Reddy Ravuri alongside Dhaneesh Jameson, the company aims to mainstream preventive genetic screening. The test assesses individual genetic predispositions to conditions ranging from rare inherited diseases to genetic factors driving common lifestyle illnesses such as hypertension. By offering accessible non-invasive testing, SugarStrings seeks to help individuals identify hidden health risks early and adopt preventive lifestyle and medical interventions.
