Tata Communications has announced an investment of approximately $450 million (Rs 4,280 crore) to establish a high-speed, low-latency long-haul fibre network dedicated to connecting artificial intelligence data centres across India. The company plans to construct around 10,000 kilometres of long-haul fibre infrastructure. The initiative's initial phase will target the Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad-Chennai corridor, connecting key hyperscale hubs. Future phases will expand to locations like GIFT City, Vizag, Bhubaneswar, and Jamnagar. Tata Communications expects India's data centre connectivity market to exceed $1 billion in the medium term as demand for high-capacity AI workloads accelerates nationwide.
