Tata Communications plans to invest between $400 million and $450 million to build a 10,000-kilometre dedicated fibre network linking data centres and AI hubs across India. The three-phase infrastructure project aims to deliver high-speed, low-latency connectivity for hyperscalers, neocloud providers, and enterprise AI workloads. Phase one will cover the Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad-Chennai corridor before expanding to eastern and western hubs, including Visakhapatnam, Jamnagar, and GIFT City. Managing Director Ganesh Lakshminarayanan noted that contracted customer demand is driving deployment, projecting India's data centre interconnectivity market to surpass $1 billion over the medium term.
