Singapore's sovereign wealth fund Temasek has reaffirmed its support for Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) ongoing investments in Air India, following public criticism over the Indian carrier’s losses. Singapore Airlines holds a 25.1% stake in Air India alongside Tata Sons, which acquired the airline in January 2022. Temasek highlighted that India represents the world’s third-largest air transport market, serving as a critical second hub for SIA's long-term international growth. Despite operational integration challenges and reported requests for an additional $1.5 billion in capital, Temasek emphasized its commitment to backing SIA's strategic expansion in Indian aviation.
