Uber is set to lay off around 200 to 250 employees in India as part of a wider global restructuring aimed at flattening its organisational structure and eliminating management layers. The cuts in India will primarily impact the People and Earners divisions, including some internal recruitment software engineers. Globally, the ride-hailing giant is cutting 3,300 roles, representing approximately 10% of its workforce, marking its largest reduction since the Covid-19 pandemic. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi stated that the company is reallocating internal resources towards mobility, delivery, and autonomous vehicles while maintaining commitment to India.
