Bengaluru-based electric motorcycle maker Ultraviolette is exploring strategies to absorb surging memory chip costs without passing price increases to consumers. Global demand for artificial intelligence data centres has triggered a severe memory chip shortage, with RAM adding approximately ₹20,000 to each electric vehicle's production cost. Ultraviolette Founder and CTO Niraj Rajmohan noted that memory prices have tripled recently. Instead of hiking vehicle prices, the company is scouting alternative software, hardware components, and manufacturing partners while leveraging technical expertise from strategic investors including TVS Motor, TDK Ventures, and Intel to navigate the supply chain crunch.
