The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved a proposal to establish the Integrated Transport and Logistics Authority (ITLA) as a special purpose vehicle. Announced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, ITLA will act as the apex body for integrated logistics planning, project appraisal, data analytics, and policy support across India. The authority will formulate a long-term National Transport Plan spanning railways, roads, civil aviation, shipping, and urban mobility. ITLA is mandated to evaluate multi-modal five-year infrastructure plans to streamline fragmented ministerial coordination and enhance efficiency across the country's transport ecosystem.
