Edtech firm upGrad has filed an insolvency petition against B9 Beverages, the parent company of craft beer brand Bira91, seeking to recover unpaid dues of ₹1.02 crore. The application was submitted on October 22 under Section 9 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code at the Delhi bench of the National Company Law Tribunal. This move compounds legal troubles for B9 Beverages, which already faces insolvency proceedings from multiple creditors, including Hindusthan National Glass & Industries over ₹11.8 crore in dues. In September, NCLT urged the brewer and creditors to explore mediation.
