UPI Crosses ₹314 Lakh Crore in Cumulative Transaction Value

Marking a decade since conceptualisation, India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has recorded exponential growth. Annual transaction volume expanded nearly 13,000-fold from 1.78 crore in FY17 to over 24,162 crore in FY26, according to the Ministry of Finance. Concurrently, annual transaction value rose from ₹7,000 crore to approximately ₹314 lakh crore. In July 2026, UPI recorded an all-time high monthly volume of 2,366 crore transactions, serving as the digital public backbone supporting households and small businesses nationwide.
