UPI Sets Record With 25.47 Billion Transactions in October

Monthly transaction volume on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) grew 5.8% to a record 25.47 billion in October, according to data from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Transaction value surged 7.4% month-on-month to reach ₹31.53 lakh crore. On a year-on-year basis, transaction volume expanded by 23%, while value rose 16%. October marked the first instance of UPI processing over 25 billion transactions and averaging daily values above ₹1 lakh crore, driven by festive shopping. Meanwhile, NPCI deferred the rollout of proposed merchant discount rate charges on select transactions until after Diwali.
