US retail conglomerate Walmart has initiated an internal probe into allegations that employees at its Indian ecommerce arm Flipkart received over ₹150 crore ($16 million) in kickbacks from vendors. Following whistleblower complaints, the investigation is focusing on staff in the smartphones and luggage and travel accessories divisions. Employees allegedly accepted illicit payments in exchange for granting vendors preferential product visibility and driving platform sales, occasionally leveraging Flipkart’s B2B operations. Flipkart stated that it maintains robust compliance standards and investigates all grievances. This marks Walmart's third internal probe into alleged financial misconduct at Flipkart in under three years.
