Meta-owned WhatsApp has launched in-app bill payments in India, partnering with the Bharat Connect (BBPS) network to enable utility bill settlements directly within the app. The feature supports 22,722 billers across 30 categories, including electricity, water, gas, FASTag, credit cards, and loan repayments. Rolling out to Android and iOS users, the integration allows payments via UPI, debit cards, and credit cards. Users can track upcoming bills, review payment history, and manage multiple accounts under a single utility provider, intensifying WhatsApp's competition with PhonePe and Google Pay.
