Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has rolled out a native utility bill payments feature for Indian users, integrated via the Bharat Connect (BBPS) network. The service enables users to discover, track, and pay bills across 22,722 billers in 30 categories, covering electricity, water, piped gas, FASTag recharges, loan repayments, and insurance policies directly within chat threads. The feature is rolling out across Android and iOS devices nationwide. Meta India head Arun Srinivas noted the move aims to simplify recurring household payments by integrating everyday financial transactions into WhatsApp's existing chat interface.
