Wipro Large-Deal Bookings Drop 58% Amid Push for AI Growth

Wipro reported a 58.6% sequential drop in large-deal bookings in constant currency to $674 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2024. CEO Srinivas Pallia attributed the sharp decline to delayed paperwork for two confirmed orders, expecting them to close in the December quarter. IT services revenue remained flat sequentially at $2.61 billion, rising just 0.6% year-on-year. While Wipro highlighted momentum in its dedicated AI unit launched in April to drive nonlinear growth, it did not disclose specific AI revenue figures, raising questions about whether artificial intelligence can soon offset broader IT service stagnation.
