Social media platform X informed the Delhi High Court that takedown notices targeting digital rights advocacy groups Internet Freedom Foundation and Software Freedom Law Center were fraudulent. Following an internal forensic investigation, legal counsel representing X confirmed an imposter forged communications under the name of the Delhi Police Special Commissioner of Crime to request post removals. The High Court formally disposed of the legal petitions filed by senior advocate Akhil Sibal on behalf of both non-profit organisations after X confirmed it would take no adverse enforcement actions against the flagged user accounts.
