Chinese artificial intelligence startup Z.ai has unveiled Ox Alpha (GLM 5.3 Flash), a new AI model powered entirely by domestically manufactured Chinese chips. According to Z.ai founder and CEO Jie Tang, the breakthrough demonstrates that competitive frontier-grade models can be trained and run without relying on Western semiconductor supply chains. Furthermore, Tang revealed that Ox Alpha is priced at just one-hundredth the cost of leading frontier models, aiming to drastically lower inference costs for enterprise developers.
