Zomato Bans Analogue Cheese and Paneer to Enforce Food Safety

31 Aug 2026, 3:19 pm · 12d ago · 1 min read · YourStory

Food delivery platform Zomato announced a zero-tolerance policy prohibiting the sale of dishes made with analogue dairy, including imitation cheese and paneer, across its restaurant network. Analogue ingredients replace conventional dairy with cheaper alternatives like plant oils while mimicking original textures. Following food safety crackdowns by Maharashtra's Food and Drug Administration and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Zomato has delisted declared analogue dishes with immediate effect. The aggregator warned that non-compliant restaurant partners will be permanently removed from its marketplace to ensure consumer transparency.
